Tributes to the Fallen

The latest tributes honouring those in policing who have made the ultimate sacrifice are now available for you to explore. These tributes serve as a lasting testament to the bravery, dedication, and selflessness of those who have given their lives in the line of duty. Through personal stories about individuals and themed reflections about groups of officers, we remember their service, honour their legacy, and ensure that their contributions to safeguarding our communities are never forgotten.

Beyond Duty: The Ultimate Sacrifice

Beyond Duty: The Ultimate Sacrifice honours police officers who, while off duty, chose to act—stepping forward to protect others, prevent crime, and uphold the values of policing when they were under no obligation to do so.

This powerful tribute tells the stories of extraordinary individuals driven not by duty of shift, but by an unwavering sense of responsibility to others. In moments of danger, they did what police officers so often do—they stepped forward when others stepped back.

In doing so, they paid the ultimate price.

While this tribute shares the stories of four remarkable officers, it stands as a wider commemoration of all those across policing who, even when off duty, placed themselves back on duty, stood in harm’s way, and lost their lives.

In remembering them, we honour not only their courage and sacrifice, but also their humanity—and ensure that their stories are never forgotten.

Tribute to women killed in policing

The first themed tribute of the UK Police Memorial’s Digital Remembrance Programme has been unveiled, a poignant video honouring the dedication, courage and significant contribution of the 69 women across the UK’s police forces who have lost their lives to policing over the last 100 years.

This tribute is the first of many which will bring together fallen members of the police service  by common or historical significance, in addition to the tributes we are producing to honour individuals.

Developed in partnership the Police Remembrance Trust and the Police History Society, our Digital Remembrance Programme recognises the nation’s gratitude and respect for the fallen members of the UK’s police service, ensuring their courage and sacrifices are never forgotten.
