Drowned after falling into a road-side drain while walking to the railway station to catch a train home.
Police Memorial Tribute
On a very dark night, while walking to Maganey Railway Station, County Kildare, to catch an evening train home, Constable Prendergast fell into a road-side drain and drowned, after earlier giving evidence at the Graigue Quarter Sessions in Queen’s County.
William, an officer from the Grangemellon district, had served with the RIC for about thirty-four years and was well respected for his conduct.
