Shot dead when ambushed by terrorist gunmen on patrol with two other officers.
Police Memorial Tribute
On patrol in the Stewartstown area he was one of three officers on a mobile patrol. They were stopped and as they pulled away from Carnan Cross terrorist gunmen opened fire, killing all three officers in the ambush.
He was survived by his wife.
