Ambushed by terrorist gunmen he returned fire but sustained fatal injuries. Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
Police Memorial Tribute
Died from gunshot wounds sustained on 27th February, when his colleague, Constable William Raymond Wylie, was shot dead during a gun battle, after they were ambushed by several terrorists as they checked a suspicious car in County Antrim. Both men were posthumously awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
