Shot in the head and fatally wounded after confronting a gunman at a house where two unarmed officers were being held. Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery.
Police Memorial Tribute
Shot in the head with a rifle and fatally wounded after arriving with an armed response unit at a house in Shrewsbury where two unarmed officers were being held at gunpoint in an alley alongside the house after attending an early morning disturbance. PC Gray placed himself between the gunman and the officers and confronted the gunman, ordering him to put the gun down, when he was shot. Posthumously awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery.
