Police Memorial Tribute
While trying to apprehend the driver of a stolen car, PC Davenport reached through the driver’s side window of a stolen Ford Escort in an attempt to grab the keys from the ignition but the driver sped off, dragging the officer along Roe Street for 200 yards before crashing the car into a glass bus shelter. Raymond was rushed to hospital but his injuries proved fatal.
PC Davenport was a member of the Operational Support Division and was survived by his wife and their daughter.
