Died in an infirmary one week after sustaining a serious injury when he fell while attempting to board a moving railway engine.
Police Memorial Tribute
As PC Newsham attempted to board a moving pilot engine, he lost his footing and fell to the ground.
One of the engine’s wheels passed over his right foot, which was later amputated, but his injuries led to his subsequent death.
