Died as a consequence of breaking his back and being paralysed while on duty nearly nine months earlier.
Police Memorial Tribute
On 5th February 1905, while attending a fire at the North Eastern Railway Station, Police Fireman Burdett was paralysed after breaking his back when he fell down a chute in the darkness while carrying a hose on the coal drop.
