Police Memorial Tribute
Constable Carroll left the Dublin Depot on the 10th February 1921, with a convoy heading for Cork.
The convoy stayed overnight at Nenagh, County Tipperary, while John travelled alone to Ballywilliam, just a few miles away, to visit his father.
The following morning while returning to Nenagh to rejoin his convoy, John was abducted by terrorists.
On the evening of 14th February, his body was found in a field in Ballyartella, near Nenagh. His hands were tied behind his back and he had been blindfolded and shot four times.
