Police Memorial Tribute
Drowned, along with ten other people, while making several unsuccessful attempts to rescue the three-man crew from an RAF bomber aircraft that had crashed into the sea off Rhosneigr during a gale. PC Arthur was in the second of four boats launched, all of which capsized in the stormy seas. Posthumously awarded the King’s Commendation for Brave Conduct.
