Died from the injuries he sustained fifteen months earlier, while rescuing a man who had jumped into the River Boding. Awarded the King's Police Medal for Gallantry.
Police Memorial Tribute
Died from the injuries he sustained fifteen months earlier, on 8th May 1918, while rescuing a lunatic armed with a razor blade who had jumped into the River Boding at Ilford and nearly drowned. Due to being repeatedly forced under the water and the foul nature of the river the officer never recovered. Awarded the King’s Police Medal for Gallantry for the rescue.
