Killed by the detonation of an unexploded bomb that he was guarding in Worlingworth, Suffolk.
Police Memorial Tribute
PC Whiting was on duty guarding an unexploded bomb at Oak Tree Farm in Fingal Street, Worlingworth, as Royal Engineers from the Bomb Disposal Section attempted to deactivate the device, but the bomb detonated and killed the officer and five of the Sappers.
