Died in the Municipal Hospital in Sunderland after becoming ill and collapsing on a train while escorting a prisoner from London.
Police Memorial Tribute
The prisoner was subsequently acknowledged by magistrates and police for his actions in arranging the removal of the officer from the train at Durham Station to secure early medical attention.
