Died two days after being fatally wounded when his ten-man patrol was attacked by terrorists on Main Street, Midleton, County Cork.
Police Memorial Tribute
Constable Dray was posthumously awarded the Constabulary Medal for Gallantry.
Constable Arthur W. Thorp died of his wounds on 30th December and Special Constable Martin Mullen was killed near the village of Ballyrichard, County Cork, in a second ambush on 29th December, after being sent with other officers as reinforcements, following the original attack.
