Believed to have been abducted and killed, along with a colleague, as they and two other officers were returning to duty from leave.
Police Memorial Tribute
As four officers were returning to duty from a period of leave, Ernest and his colleague, Constable Patrick Waters, are believed to have been abducted and subsequently killed. Neither officer’s body has never been recovered.
The other two officers, Constables Albert F. Caseley and John Herbert Evans were found shot dead at Hillville, just outside Killorglin, County Kerry.
