Died from his injuries when the police car in which he was a passenger crashed while responding to an emergency call.
Police Memorial Tribute
PC Day was on duty as the passenger in a police patrol car when he and a colleague were dispatched to reports of a burglar alarm having been activated at one of the business premises at Park Royal.
At 8:40 pm, as they travelled along Coronation Road, Acton, their car left the road and collided with a lamppost which collapsed onto the roof of the car, trapping both officers inside. Rescuers responded and both officers were cut free but PC Day died from his injuries.
