Died in hospital the day after being fatally injured when he was struck by a goods vehicle while on night duty.

Without regaining consciousness, PC Napier died in the Northern Hospital from the injuries he sustained while on night duty the previous evening when, about 6:30pm, he was struck by a goods vehicle as he crossed the road at the junction of Scotland Road and Bevington Hill.
Alexander, a native of Liverpool, joined the force in February 1946 after serving nine years with the Sixth Airborne Division.
In 1945 he was awarded the Commander-In-Chief’s Certificate for good serving during the Normandy operations.
He left a widow and child.
